*UPDATE*#LASD Homicide Bureau Detectives Responded to Investigate the Stabbing Death of a female,1400 block Renwick St, #San Dimas
Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing death of a woman and her dog in San Dimas.
Deputies from San Dimas station responded to Lone Hill Park regarding a call of an assault with a deadly weapon in progress. The call indicated a woman was screaming and later updated indicating a woman was being stabbed. Upon arriving, deputies found the victim, female white in her 60’s, lying unresponsive in the street. The victim appeared to have sustained multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. A dog was lying next to her. The dog was determined to be dead as well.
Investigators identified an additional victim, male white in his 30’s. They learned that male had parked his truck and was walking through the park toward the public restroom. The male victim saw the suspect, male Hispanic 23, walking toward him wielding a knife. The male victim turned and ran from the suspect. The suspect gave chase but changed his focus to the female victim who was walking her dog. The suspect grabbed the female victim’s dog by the leash and yanked it free of her grasp.
The suspect then stabbed the dog and then the female victim. As the suspect stabbed the female victim, the male victim was able to strike the suspect in the head with a rock. The suspect was knocked unconscious.
Arriving deputies took the suspect into custody. He was transported to a local hospital where he is being evaluated for head injuries. When medically cleared, the suspect will be transported to San Dimas Station and booked for murder.
The identity of the victims and suspect are not being released at this time.
A knife was recovered at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
