Man in critical condition after shooting
A Macon man was in critical condition at a local hospital Monday after he was shot downtown early Sunday.
Leroy Pitts, 27, was listed in critical condition in the intensive care unit of The Medical Center of Central Georgia, Macon police spokeswoman Melanie Hofmann said.
Pitts was shot once in the back during a dispute with two men near the intersection of Poplar and Second streets.
Police have issued a warrant for 29-year-old Charles Anthony Williams, who was wanted for aggravated assault in the case. The name of the o
her man, who has not been charged, was not released.
Reports said Pitts, Williams and a third man - believed to be a friend of Williams' - were arguing about 1 a.m. when the third man pull

gun and started shooting into the air. Williams then to
ok a gun from the man and started chasing Pitts, reports said.
Williams chased Pitts to the 500 block of Poplar Street and shot him in the back, according to reports. Police said they found Pitts laying face down on the sidewalk.
Williams, who police said is known to frequent the Napier Avenue and Gordon Street area, is described as a black male, about 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds, with braided hair and a goatee.
