A Harlem man  who attempted to smuggle $770,000 into Yemen secreted inside boxes of Alka-Seltzer and Dove soap was sentenced Wednesday to just over four years behind bars.

Abdulkarim Altareb was stopped by border agents at JFK as he attempted to board a Yemen-bound flight in March 2015 with the stowaway cash in his suitcases.

While the 50-year-old unsuccessfully tried to convince jurors his brother had filled the pharmacy boxes with cash, prosecutors said Wednesday, Altareb had lied throughout his trial testimony.

“The defendant took perjury to new heights,” said Assistant US Attorney Lindsay Gerdes, before Brooklyn federal judge Roslynn Mauskoff sentenced Altareb to four years and three months in prison. “It’s something I’ve never seen in nine years. He made a mockery of the entire trial process.”
