NFL player charged with DUI in Covington
Detroit Lions pro linebacker Donte Curry faces drunken-driving charges after he was found asleep at the wheel at an intersection in Covington. Curry, 25, of Savannah was charged early Tuesday morning with DUI, DUI per se, impeding the flow of traffic and having an open container of alcohol, said Sgt. John Seabolt. A
test showed that Curry's blood-alcohol content was 0.195, well above the legal limit of 0.08, police said.
Police responded to a report that the 1998 Ford Expedition was stopped at the traffic li
ght at the intersection, Seabolt said. When police arrived, Curry was passed out with his foot on the brake while the engine was still running, Seabolt said.
Police tried to wake Curry and then blocked in the sport utili
ty vehicle so it wouldn't roll into traffic. An officer climbed through an unlocked back door, turned off the vehicle and woke up Curry.
