Florida authorities revealed on Monday that it was an out-of-state Airbnb owner who spotted three men on a security camera carrying what appeared to be a dead body out of her home and alerted investigators, who are now searching for the accomplice of the murder suspect since arrested over the Easter weekend.
At a press conference on Monday, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd revealed detectives have since identified the three men seen carrying out a fatally wounded 29-year-old Xavier Antonio Johnson from an Airbnb property in Davenport, Florida, on April 13. The house was being used to sell trafficking amounts of marijuana since April 8 when the group took occupancy of the residence, Judd said.
The sheriff’s office released a clip of the surveillance video in hopes of identifying the three men who detectives believe then drove Johnson to Heart of Florida hospital and fled. Johnson succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, and Judd said investigators were able to find the crime scene after the out-of-state Airbnb owner alerted his office to what she saw on her Ring doorbell camera

"The owner of the Airbnb looked on the security cameras and saw this traffic in and out of her house, saw this apparently deceased or very seriously injured person being carried out, and she called us," Judd told reporters Monday. "And that’s how we found the crime scene."

Judd said the three men have since been identified and are under investigation. The sheriff on Monday announced the arrest of the murder suspect and said investigators were seeking to identify his associate seen arriving at the Airbnb and later fleeing in a hurry in a second video clip newly released to the public.

Justin Jenkums, 29, was arrested in Volusia County, Florida, on an out-of-county warrant charging him with first degree murder and robbery with a firearm/deadly weapon. His criminal history includes 35 previous felonies and 20 previous misdemeanors, Judd said. He will be transferred to the Polk County Jail at a later date. He served three stints in state prison and was known to police in his hometown of Eustis in Lake County, Florida.
Judd described Jenkins' associate as an unknown White or Hispanic male.

This case is far from over but what we need is his partner. His partner that helped murder someone," Judd said, appealing to "social media sleuths" for any information. "Justin Jenkins and his partner came all the way from South Daytona to Davenport, Florida, to as they say, ‘hit a lick,’ to rob at gunpoint a dope dealer, a marijuana dealer and in the process, murdered the guy."

Judd also used the murder to criticize individuals who claim marijuana is a "low-level nonviolent drug."

The man arrested is Justin Jenkins, 29, from South Daytona Beach. He faces a first-degree murder charge. Jenkins had at least 55 previous criminal charges according to Judd, with 35 of those being felonies.
“Justin Jenkins is a bad man, he’s a murderer,” Judd said.
Sheriff Judd said Jenkins and another man went to the home to rob Xavier Antonio Johnson, 29, who was at rented the house on Acorn Court through Airbnb on April 8, 2022, to sell marijuana along with other individuals.
Law enforcement is still looking for another man they said was Jenkins’ partner.
Judd said they are unsure which man allegedly shot Johnson, but new video released by the sheriff’s office showed Jenkins and two other men entering the house with guns. Five minutes later, Jenkins and the man deputies are looking for can been seen frantically leaving the house with a bag.

The man deputies are looking for is wearing a hat and mask in the video.
Other surveillance video released over the weekend showed a group of three different men carry Johnson’s body out of the home later that night. Deputies have identified those men and they are also under investigation.
The renter of the Airbnb is also being investigated.

“Everybody that’s involved is in the Easter basket,” Judd said.

Xavier “Big
“I truly, truly know he did not deserve that. Whoever he was in the presence of, he was loyal to those people that’s why he was there, trusted them. And I feel like he was betrayed,” said Lynn Johnson, Xavier’s mother.

Johnson said her son was nicknamed “Big Daddy,” and had two daughters, 3 years old and 2 months old.

“This one day, that Wednesday, will not define my son,” she said. ““Big Daddy was a great person. Every time he came around us, he always brought a lot of joy, love.”

Deputies were able to place the alleged crime scene at the Airbnb when the out-of-state homeowner looked at the Ring security camera footage from outside the home. Sheriff Judd said the homeowner is innocent in the incident.

Detectives are asking anyone to identify the other man involved in Johnson’s death. If you have any information, call the Polk County Sheriff’s Office at 863-298-6200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226 TIPS (8477).
