Sacramento police have released a sketch of man suspected of sexually assaulted a pregnant woman in her Sacramento apartment Tuesday night, authorities said.
"We're concerned that we find this individual because the assault was very violent," said police spokesman
gt. Justin Risley.
The woman, who is five months pregnant, initially saw the man just before 10 p.m. as she passed him while walking down a path toward her car. With groceries in hand she returned to
r
her upstairs apartment on Bicentennial Circle in College Greens, Risley said.
The man knocked on her door and asked for directions to another apartment
. When she gave them, he thanked her and left, Risley said.
She was on the telephone inside her apartment when she heard a knock at her door again. Through a peephole she could see the same man.
She opened the door. The man said he still couldn't find the apartment and asked to use the phone.
When she tried to close the door he forced his way inside and sexually assaulted her, Risley said. She started screaming and told him she was pregnant, he added. The man then fled.
The fetus was unharmed, however, the woman needed stitches, Risley said.
The man is described as in his early to mid-20s, about 5-feet-9
with a heavy build weighing about 210 pounds. His two front teeth are shorter than the rest. He is dark skinned with brown eyes and a clean-shaven face. His black hair was pulled back in a 1-i
nch
ponytail and was frizzy on the sides. He was wearing a white T-shirt and dark blue pants with the cuffs rolled up.
A man matching the same description was seen driving a whi
te four-door car with tinted windows, Risley said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP or (800) AA-CRIME.
