Child Home Alone: Update

CAMDEN, NJ-June 12, 2005 ”” The woman wanted in Camden for leaving her toddler home alone has been found and arrested.

Twenty-year-old Helenia Garry was taken in to custody around midnight Friday. She's charged ”“ endangering the welfare of her 23-month-old daughter.

The little girl was found alone inside her home on Belview Avenue. The baby is now with a relative.

Garry could be sentenced to 10-years in prison if convicted

PHILADELPHIA -- A Camden mother who allegedly left her toddler home alone was arrested early Saturday after turning herself over to police.

Helenia Garry, 20, allegedly left her 23-month-old daughter, Jazeera, inside a home without electricity.

A school attendance worker discovered the toddler on Thursday, NBC 10 News reported.

The worker heard the child crying and then saw the child peeping through a mail slot in an empty home, NBC 10
News reported.

Garry's 6-month-old daughter was found at a relative's home in Camden.
