Man sentenced for killing his 3-year-old son

HILLSBOROUGH, Florida -- A Hillborough County man will spend the next 30 years in prison for murdering his three-year-old son.
Just before the sentence was handed down on Friday morning, Ronnie Paris Jr. told the judge he had been a good father. :rotfl:

The child's foster mother said his condition deteriorated after he left foster care.

Tammie McAdams, Foster Mother: "So if he was such a good father, then whatever happened could have been prevented, because it didn't happen all in one day."

The child, also named Ronnie, was sent to foster care after doctors found he had a broken arm and a bro
ken leg. He was returned to his parents at age 3, and died two months later in January of 2004.

According to the autopsy report, the cause of death was blunt trauma to the head.

Tampa man gets 30 years for son's death

A Bay area man will spend 30 years in prison for the death of his 3-year-old son in January.

A judge sentenced Ronnie Paris for second-degree murder and child abuse Friday.

Court testimony showed the 22-year old Paris roughed up his son, Ronnie Jr., because witnesses said he didn't want him to "grow up and be a sissy."

The boy's mother said Paris beat the toddler and slammed him into a kitchen wall. She's still awaiting trial on child abuse charges. Ronnie Jr. had been in foster care before being returned to his parents six weeks b

efore his death.
