County official's sons questioned
Two sons of Cook County Chief Medical Examiner Edmund Donoghue were being questioned by Chicago Police Friday in connection with an assault on an FBI agent and two Chicago Police officers, a source said Friday. Edmund Donoghue Jr. and Matthew Donoghue were at the Belmont District police headquarters. An FBI agent approached two men late Thursday outside the Beaumont bar
in the 2000 block of North Halsted to intervene in a shoving match, a preliminary police report said. The men allegedly pushed the FBI agent to the ground. Police officers who responded to the scene were also allegedly struck. The unidenti
fied FBI agent required stitches after he was kicked and punched multiple times, according to the preliminary police report.

Police say FBI agent beaten outside Chicago tavern
June 26, 2004 --Chicago police say an off-duty F-B-I agent and his friend were beaten by a pair of brothers early yesterday morning outside a North Side tavern.
The brothers are in police custody while local officers and federal prosecutors decide what charges to file.

Officers say the FBI agent, who was from another city, was in Chicago on vacation when the incident occurred. They say h

s friend quarreled with the brothers outside The Beaumont, a tavern on North Halsted Street. They said that when
the agent identified himself as a federal law enforcement officer, the two reportedly threw him to the ground and either beat or kicked him.
