Guards shot a man dead during a bungled robbery of an armoured car in Parramatta last night.

Two masked men, one carrying a firearm, threatened two Armaguard security guards after their van had stopped outside an NAB bank on George Street about 6.30pm, police said.

One of guards then allegedly shot one of the men forcing them to flee.

A third guard waiting outside then also allegedly fired his weapon at one of the men.

Acting Superintendent David Egan-Lee said two of the guards allegedly shot at the masked men, wounding one, before the two men fled in a
white Mitsubishi Lancer with stolen number plates.

A 25-year-old man with a bullet wound was dropped at Auburn Hospital, but was dead when staff found him.

Police are reluctant to say the man was shot dead by the guards until they have conducted tests.

The robbers were armed with at least two weapons, one of which was a pistol that was recovered at the scene.

Superintendent Egan-Lee said the two shots were fired by the guards and one of the robbers was hit in the chest.

They escaped through a back lane and the Mitsubishi Lancer was seen driving erratically. The robbers were wearing dark hooded jackets and scarves across their faces.

It is believed that none of the guards or the surviving masked man was injured.

The getaway car was later found by police burnt out in Berala.

Police established crime scenes in George Street and at Auburn Hospital.

Noisy protest

Last night, officers also had to contend with a large crowd of people, believed to
be friends and family of the dead man, who staged a noisy and threatening demonstration outside Auburn Hospital.

Soon after the man's arrival at the hospital, a large group of people arrived outside and began shouting, a hospital spokeswoman said.

"A very large number of people, around 100, converged on the hospital ... I believe they may have been friends and family of the deceased man," she said.

The police dog squad and specialist police were called in when the crowd began threatening staff and police officers.

TNB at its finest.Threatening staff trying to save lives, not the 'guilty'.

With the Polair helicopter in support, the crowd was dispersed without incident, a police spokeswoman said.

Police said they will be referring to CCTV footage and witness statements to investigate the full circumstances of the shooting, including the series of events leading up to why the security guards used their guns.

Police say Strike Force Panima will hopefully have evidence on whether the two incidents are linked today.

I was leaning in that direction too. Using stolen license plates sounds very sophisticated for your average Abo. It was the pack mentality and supporting criminals that had me indecisive.

Sand nigger shot dead.

A SECURITY guard who shot dead a convicted violent criminal is highly unlikely to face charges over the shooting, with police saying the evidence so far supports claims of self-defence.
The Daily Telegraph can reveal the dead would-be robber, Kaled Dib, 25, of Lidcombe, was convicted of assaulting two security guards at Parramatta's Albion Hotel earlier this year.
He also had unlicensed driving convictions from 2007 and police intelligence reports linked him to the drug trade, armed robberies and to criminals linked to armed robberies, police sources have confirmed.
Legal advice and counselling is being offered to the three Armaguard security guards who were delivering cash to the National Australia Bank's Parramatta branch in George St yesterday when the attempted robbery occurred.
Two of the armed guards entered the branch about 6.20pm and almost immediately were confronted by two men, o
ne of them Dib, wearing masks and brandishing handguns.
One of the guards fired a shot at the bandits but missed, with the bullet lodging in a bookcase.
The two robbers ran from the bank to their getaway car, driven by a third man, Robbery and Serious Crime Squad commander Detective Superintendent Peter Cotter said.
"One of the men ran towards the third security guard who was positioned across the road, adjacent to the getaway car, raised his firearm at the guard, and the guard in self-defence fired one shot," Supt Cotter said.
Dib was struck in the chest, dropping his handgun which was later found to be loaded. All three men managed to escape in a getaway car.
At about 6.50pm, a Toyota Hilux utility driven by an associate of Dib pulled up outside Auburn Hospital and left him outside the emergency department. He was already dead.
At least 50 relatives and friends soon arrived at the hospital, demanding the release of his body for a Muslim funeral.
They had to be dispersed by police.
Ab
out 50 mourners dressed in black attended Dib's family's home in Lidcombe yesterday.
"He was good man. He was the best guy in the world," one relative said.
..........
Yeah he was a great guy"NOT". They shouldn't give his body back instead it should be buried in a pig skin. That would send a message to all the other rag heads to respect our laws and way of life.
