Major media outlets with a progressive slant downplay the surge in violent crime in Democratic-controlled cities and counties and often overlook the growing culture of violence affecting the younger generation.
There has been a rise in violence committed by teenagers and young men in major cities across the US. Some experts question if mental health issues stemming from Covid lockdowns are the reason for the outbursts of violence committed by the youth. Or perhaps Hollywood desensitizes teens with violent movies, songs, and video games. Or maybe it's social media or the state promoting fatherless homes.
While it's too early to tell why the younger generation feels the need to reenact scenes from the video game 'Grand Theft Auto,' a video is going viral this weekend of an incident last month of teens in Las Vegas going on a joyride, senselessly targeting other vehicles and even intentionally running down a bicyclist.

On August 14, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrested a 17-year-old driver of a Hyundai who fled the scene after intentionally running over and killing Andreas Probst, a retired California police chief.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the teens posted a video of the joyride on social media. Police were able to use the video as evidence, which showed the driver 'intentionally' killed Probst.
The video is shocking.

The broader issue is that major Democrat cities are dealing with a surge in youth crime.

We warned readers earlier this year about the ongoing issue in Baltimore City.

And this youth crime wave has spread to other cities, including Washington, DC:
"We have seen a significant uptick in violence over the last two to three years, and I think it's almost been exclusively driven by 14- to 21-year-old boys and young men," Alexandria City Mayor Justin Wilson told Axios.
There needs to be a national discussion to understand what triggers the youth NIGGERS to commit violent crimes. I think everyone can agree. Some of us want to peacefully jog or ride a bike down the street without some crazed teen on TikTok looking for their next target while speeding down the street. The current governing approach by Democrats raises concerns about their commitment to maintaining law and order.

Teenagers accused in fatal hit-and-run appear in court Thursday

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The teenager who police say intentionally struck and killed a retired police chief in Las Vegas said he would get a “slap on the wrist” after he was taken into custody, the 8newsnow.com Investigators have learned.
Jesus Ayala, 17 at the time, appeared to show no remorse while being taken into custody. Ayala, now 18, faces 18 counts — including murder — and has a lengthy criminal history in the juvenile system.

Ayala made comments to police after he was taken into custody:
“You think this juvenile [expletive] is gonna do some [expletive]? I’ll be out in 30 days, I’ll bet you.”
“It’s just ah, [expletive] ah, hit-and-run — slap on the wrist.”

Officers had not yet mentioned a hit-and-run to Ayala at that point in their conversation with him, sources said. They said he was being booked for a warrant and obstructing a peace officer.
Ayala’s comments were caught on a police body camera.
Police obtained Ayala’s cell phone and found a video of Andy Probst, 64, being fatally struck, along with a short clip showing another bicyclist being struck by a Kia Soul. The video had been recorded by Ayala, indicating that he was the passenger.
In the video, the sound of a car horn is heard, along with a voice saying “bump him” repeatedly. A cyclist riding on the far right side of the street can be seen wearing an orange shirt. Both suspects are heard laughing, along with the sound of the engine accelerating. That victim, a 72-year-old man, survived.

Jzamir Keys
is accused of being the passenger and recording video as Andy Probst was apparently intentionally struck and killed while riding his bicycle. (KLAS)

Homicide detectives received information that the passenger in the crash that killed Probst, identified by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officials as Jzamir Keys, 16, was in a fight on Sept. 14. Video of that incident was recorded and police said that his white tennis shoes matched the video from the Aug. 14 crime spree.
Keys recorded video as Probst was apparently intentionally struck and killed on Aug. 14. The collision followed an alleged crime spree that included at least three car thefts and three hit-and-runs. The teens are seen apparently striking another car on the road in the video.

The stolen car that Ayala and Keys allegedly used to murder Probst was found ditched near Craig Road and Jones Boulevard – less than 10 minutes from the crash site, sources told the 8 News Now Investigators.
The stolen vehicle was located with blood on its windshield, sources said.

In the hours after Probst’s death, the teenagers allegedly stole two more cars in the area of Lake Mead Boulevard and Torrey Pines Drive, sources said. About an hour after allegedly hitting and killing Probst, the teenagers took the two stolen cars and crashed them into each other near a shopping plaza at Lake Mead and Rainbow boulevards, sources said.
Keys faces three charges, including murder. Both teens appeared in adult court for the first time on Thursday. David Westbrook, a Clark County public defender, represented Ayala. Keys is expected to be appointed a public defender.
They are next due in court on Sept. 26, when the issue of bail is likely to be addressed. Steve Wolfson, Clark County District Attorney, said that the teen suspects should remain in custody.
“The determination of whether somebody should remain in custody is based upon whether they’re a flight risk or a danger to the community,” Wolfson said. “I believe they’re potentially both. They have certainly proved that they are dangerous.”

As of Thursday, the teenagers are being held in the Clark County Detention Center in Downtown Las Vegas. In Nevada, an individual facing a murder charge who is 16 or 17 years old is automatically moved from the juvenile system to the adult criminal justice system.
As the 8 News Now Investigators reported in August, police did not have enough evidence in the weeks after the crash to charge Ayala with murder since the video did not surface for two weeks.

8 News Now reached out to Ayala’s mother by phone.
“I don’t know why he did this,” she said. “I don’t know if God can forgive this.”
On Aug. 14, Andreas “Andy” Probst, 64, a retired California police chief was riding his bicycle in a designated bike lane when the driver intentionally swerved to hit Probst.

Probst was taken to University Medical Center and later pronounced dead.
The teens did not stop at the scene. Police identified Keys as the passenger who recorded the incident while both teens appeared to laugh.
The deadly hit-and-run crash occurred at around 6 a.m. near Tenaya Way and Centennial Parkway.
Las Vegas Metro Police said they took Ayala into custody that day on charges related to the deadly hit and run and later learned about a video of the incident from a school resource officer.
The homicide unit took over the case.

Police revealed at a news conference on Tuesday that the teens were involved in a crime spree starting with a hit and run of another cyclist. The 72-year-old man survived. Police said they believed Keys was the driver at that time.
In the video recorded by the passenger, the teens are seen hitting another car on the road moments before hitting and killing Probst.

The teens had stolen four cars that day, police said.
The 8 News Now Investigators have learned that Jesus Ayala, the accused driver has a lengthy record in the juvenile system.

As for Jzamir Keys, the accused passenger, the 8 News Now Investigators have learned he was in the child welfare system at 8 years old. His mother was charged with five counts of child abuse in 2016, according to court documents. Police said they found her five children ages two to nine years old home alone without access to food, a knife left on a kitchen counter, and the house in poor condition.

Neighbors reported witnessing the children left alone for extended periods of time. The mother said that she could not find childcare while she worked. She pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor child abuse. She later withdrew her plea after she successfully completed terms of probation and received a conviction for misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

Both teens are expected to be moved to the adult jail in downtown Las Vegas within the next 24 hours.

Bid to dismiss charges against Jesus Ayala in Probst hit-and-run ...

Jesus Ayala, 18, is accused of ramming a stolen vehicle into the back of of Andreas Probst's bicycle in August, killing the retired police chief.

A Las Vegas judge declined to dismiss an indictment on Tuesday against a teenager accused of killing a 66-year-old bicyclist in a fatal hit-and-run crash.
Jesus Ayala, 18, is accused of ramming a stolen vehicle into the back of Andreas Probst’s bicycle in August, killing the retired police chief.

Ayala and his co-defendant, 16-year-old Jzamir Keys, who is accused of filming the car hitting Probst, were indicted in October on charges of murder, attempted murder, failing to stop at the scene of the crash, battery, residential burglary, grand larceny of a vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Chief Deputy Public Defender David Westbrook, who is representing Ayala, filed a petition to dismiss the indictment,
arguing that prosecutors failed to properly instruct the grand jury, did not properly present exculpatory evidence and failed to determine if the grand jury was tainted by media coverage of the case.
District Judge Jacqueline Bluth dismissed the petition during a court hearing on Tuesday. Westbrook said he has not determined if he will appeal the judge’s decision.

“It’s certainly an option, and it’s something that we might consider, but I need to review the transcript,” he said following the hearing.
Westbrook argued that when prosecutors took the case to a grand jury, they failed to instruct the grand jury on the definitions of willful, premeditated and deliberate murder, which are elements of a first-degree murder charge.
https://www.reviewjournal.com/homic..._tracker&utm_source=lvrj&utm_medium=embed_box

Chief Deputy District Attorney John Giordani said that prosecutors were not required to present those definitions to a grand jury. He said that grand jurors were asked to indict Ayala on a charge of open murder, which is a charge prosecutors use to encompass the various potential murder charges for which a defendant could be convicted.

Westbrook also argued that prosecutors did not show the grand jury the entirety of a video of Ayala speaking with an officer after his arrest. In the video, Ayala said he expected to be out of custody in 30 days. Westbrook argued that the comment was not about hitting Probst, but that Ayala was referring to crashing a vehicle after he hit Probst, shortly before his arrest.

Bluth said that grand jurors had the option to view the entire video, and that it should be up to a jury during a trial to determine what Ayala meant when he spoke with the officer.

Westbrook also said that local and national media coverage of the case could have affected the grand jury proceedings, which are typically held in secret outside the presence of a judge.

He said grand jurors should have been asked if they had seen media coverage of the case, or the case should be reviewed by the District Court chief judge.

“I think that I had a valid concern that maybe some members of the grand jury might have developed a bias against my client, in a place and at a time where I had no power to protect,” he said.

Giordani said there was no evidence that grand jurors were biased, and that prior case law cited by Westbrook did not apply to Ayala’s case.

“I’m not going to bring every case that the RJ or Channel 8 decides to do a story on to the chief judge. That’s implausible,” Giordani said.

The judge said she agreed that the law did not require prosecutors to instruct the grand jury on the first-degree murder elements, or to question the grand jurors about their bias.
Probst’s daughter, Taylor Probst, attended Tuesday’s hearing alongside her mother. She said that while part of her is concerned that media coverage could affect the case, she believes the defendants are the reason the video of the hit-and-run gained national attention.

“Ayala and Keys were the ones who initially put the video out there, who were spreading it around,” she said.
The teenagers are accused of stealing multiple cars and filming themselves intentionally hitting another bicyclist and rear-ending a separate vehicle before ramming into Probst.
A trial is scheduled for Nov. 12.

A teenager accused of killing a bicyclist in a fatal hit-and-run last year is now facing an attempted murder charge in a separate case in which police identified him as a gang member.
Jesus Ayala, 18, made an initial court appearance on Thursday in connection with the new case, in which he faces a charge of attempted murder with a deadly weapon in connection with a stabbing in June. A Metropolitan Police Department arrest report for the stabbing identified Ayala as a member of the “Night Crawlers criminal gang.”

Ayala has been pictured in court with a black “NC” tattoo on his cheek. He and another teenager, 16-year-old Jzamir Keys, were previously charged with the killing of 66-year-old bicyclist and retired police chief Andreas Probst.

Police received a report of the stabbing after the victim was taken to University Medical Center on June 27. The victim had multiple injuries, including stab wounds to his face and back, according to the arrest report.
The victim told police that he was drinking outside his home when a teenager walked by him, and he accused the teen of stealing something from him. He then followed the teenager, and five other people came to the area and attacked him.

A witness told police the attack was “extremely violent” and said that if it had “lasted longer than a minute they would’ve killed” the victim, the report said.
Police later received reports of a group of teenagers attempting to steal a vehicle near where the stabbing happened. Investigators also obtained messages between Ayala and one of the teens arrested in connection with the stolen vehicle, in which the two were talking about the theft, according to the arrest report.

https://www.reviewjournal.com/homic..._tracker&utm_source=lvrj&utm_medium=embed_box

Another teenager tied to the stolen vehicle identified Ayala as “one of the ‘big homies.’” The juvenile placed Ayala at the scene of a recent robbery that happened at a church but did not confirm if Ayala was present for the stabbing.
A month after Ayala was arrested in connection with the fatal hit-and-run, the victim who was attacked in June identified Ayala in a photo lineup as the person who stabbed him, the report said.

A knife found at the scene of the stabbing did not have “a suitable print match” for Ayala, but the officer who authored the arrest report noted that DNA testing has not been completed.
In an interview with police, Ayala denied being a member of a gang and denied “having been involved with any stabbing incident,” the report said.
Ayala and Keys have been in custody since August in connection with the fatal hit-and-run. They face charges of murder, attempted murder, failing to stop at the scene of the crash, battery, residential burglary, grand larceny of a vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle in connection with the series of crimes that led to Probst’s death.

Keys is accused of filming a disturbing video of Ayala laughing and intentionally ramming into the back of Probst’s bicycle before driving away.
The two were also accused of stealing multiple cars and filming themselves intentionally hitting another bicyclist and rear-ending a separate vehicle before striking Probst.

Ayala remained in the Clark County Detention Center on Thursday without bail.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- A Las Vegas teen charged as an adult after allegedly running down and killing a cyclist is facing a new attempted murder charge in a different case.
Jesus Ayala, 18, is a co-defendant with Jzamir Keys on 14 felony charges following the murder of Andreas "Andy" Probst last year. On January 17, he was arrested for attempted murder in an earlier case.

According to a police report, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a report of a walk-in stabbing victim at UMC who had sustained multiple lacerations to his torso and a large laceration near his left ear on June 27, 2023.
The victim initially told investigators that he had been approached by two unknown males who attacked him with brass knuckles. He said nothing was taken from him and the suspects left him lying on the ground.

The family of Andy Probst, a retired Bell police chief who was seen in a viral video by two teens being struck and killed, is breaking their silence.

The victim told police he was taken to UMC by ambulance, but they learned that he was actually taken there by his roommate. UMC medical records said that the victim was diagnosed with the following:
Acute traumatic pain
Stab wound of face, multiple sites
Stab wound on the back
Assault by cutting with a knife
Pneumothorax on right

On June 28, 2023 police spoke to a witness who described approximately five individuals engaging in an "extremely violent" attack on the victim lasting approximately one minute. He speculated that if the attack lasted longer the victim would have been killed. The witness described the suspects as being under the age of 18.

Further investigation connected Ayala to the beating, with one witness identifying him as one of the "big homies" involved in the attack. On September 19, 2023, the victim positively identified Ayala in a photo lineup as the person who stabbed him.
A knife found at the scene did not provide a "suitable print match" to the suspect, according to the police report. DNA testing has not yet been completed.
Ayala has a preliminary hearing on the new attempted murder charge in Clark County Justice Court scheduled for February 28. His other trial is set to begin on November 12.
