Man knifed to death in fight over Popeye’s chicken sandwich: report

A suspect pulled a knife during a fight over a Popeye’s chicken sandwich and fatally stabbed a man inside one of the fast-food joints in Maryland Monday night, a report said.

The melee kicked off about 7 p.m. inside a Popeyes outpost in Prince George’s County — outside of Washington, DC — the day after the sandwich officially returned to the menu, according to FOX 5 DC.

Cops found the victim in the parking lot when they arrived, the report said. He died at a nearby hospital.

Popeyes introduced the chicken sandwich in August, attracting “hangry” mobs who craved the fried delicacy, but soon had to take it off the menu because they didn’t have the bandwidth to meet the demand.

The Post reported last week that the chicken chain was beefing up its staff to prepare for the rush of sandwich enthusiasts.

Sun Holdings Inc., operator of about 150 Popeyes locations, added 400 employees at its restaurants ahead of Sunday’s re-release.

“The first time they weren’t ready,” Sun Holdings CEO Guillermo Perales told Bloomberg of the first launch.

OXON HILL, Md. (WJZ) — Police have released photos of a woman pictured with a man wanted in connection with the alleged altercation over their spicy chicken sandwich at a Popeyes in Oxon Hill on Monday.



A man was fatally stabbed outside the restaurant in Prince George’s County over the release of the new sandwich, officials said.

The crime happened in a line set aside for people waiting for a chicken sandwich. The confrontation happened before either man bought a sandwich.

Police want to speak with the woman in the picture above, but she is not a suspect at this time.

Police ID Man Wanted In Fatal Popeyes Stabbing In Prince George’s County, Considered Armed And Dangerous

OXON HILL, Md. (WJZ) — The suspect wanted for fatally stabbing a man outside of a Popeyes in Prince George’s County has been identified, police said Tuesday.

30-year-old Ricoh McClain is wanted for stabbing 28-year-old Kevin Tyrell Davis after the two got in a verbal argument after the victim cut in front of several customers waiting to order food.

The two then got out of line, walked out of the front door together and McClain immediately stabbed Davis, police said.

Davis was found by police outside in the parking lot suffering from a single stab wound. He died at an area hospital shortly after.

McClain then fled from the area. Police do not believe the two knew each other beforehand.
