Jonesboro Officer Facing Molestation Charge
ATLANTA -- A Jonesboro police officer who recently was transferred to the position of school resource officer at Jonesboro Middle School has been jailed and charged with two counts of child molestation.
It is unclear if the alleged incidents involving Kenneth Jerome Alexander, 41, of Hampton, Ga., occurred at Jonesboro Middle School.
Alexander was arrested late Tuesday after an investigation by the Jonesboro Police Departmen
and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Jonesboro interim police Chief Robert Thomas asked the GBI to investigate Monday, said GBI spokeswoman Vicki Metz.
"Apparently allegations had

faced about an inappropriate contact the subject may have had with two teenage girls," Metz sai
d.
Jonesboro City Manager Jon Walker said Wednesday that Alexander had just been transferred to the school resource officer position at Jonesboro Middle School last week. Walker wouldn't say why Alexander had been transferred. Walker said Alexander had been with the department for a little more than three years.
Alexander has been charged with two counts each of child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes and for violating his oath of office.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 11 at 3 p.m.
