WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WJAR) — A Woonsocket man is accused of soaking a kitten in water and putting it in a freezer, according to authorities.

Police said on July 19, a woman went to the Woonsocket police station to report she was assaulted while visiting 31-year-old Shane Hall on East Street.

The woman reported that when she visited Hall, he was upset about the kitten knocking over trash, so he took the kitten, placed it in a crate, and walked over to the bathroom.

Authorities said the 31-year-old turned on the shower and began soaking the kitten with water, adding he then put the kitten in the freezer and closed the door.

When she tried to take the kitten out, police said Hall told her, "No you are not."

According to a police report, Hall shot the woman about 10 to 12 times with a BB gun after she tried helping the kitten.

Woonsocket police said days before the incident, the Woonsocket man slammed another kitten's head against the floor, causing it to bleed.

The woman told police the kitten's nose was bleeding and the eyes appeared to be swollen. Police said that incident was over the kitten scratching him.
