Baby Boy Abandoned
A 9-month-old baby boy is in foster care after his mother abandons him.
The child was left with a woman in an apartment near Cleveland Avenue around midnight Wednesday. By Thursday afternoon, the woman had called Children Services to say the mother never returned.
The mother told the woman his name is Jeremiah and she said her name was Tonya, but did not give her last name.
Caseworkers at Children Services hope someone will recognize the baby and call. They say they could place the child with family members in just in a few days, but if the mother calls, that's a different story.
"If the mom comes forward, we would do a full investigation into the circumstances that brought Jeremiah to us and that would take time. Sometime
s it takes 30 days to complete an investigation," says Kay Marshall with Franklin County Children
