56-Year-Old Man Killed By Alleged DUI Driver

The crash happened late Wednesday afternoon near Desert Inn and Paradise. The driver, 25-year-old Mahmod Alseidamad of Las Vegas, who suffered only minor injuries, was arrested for Felony DUI-Death and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

The accident happened right in front of Blair House Suites. The clerk inside says this part of Desert Inn is like the autobahn, and police say someone speeding struck two innocent people on the sidewalk.

Paramedics raced to the rescue after the Honda Accord careened out of control, jumped the sidewalk and slammed into two pedestrians.

"They never saw it coming, so they had no opportunity to see the hazard and react to it. Basically, it came out of nowhere," said Metro Traffic Sgt. Oscar Chavez.

Police shut down the westbound Desert Inn for hours as investigators looked for evidence. Eyewitnesses tell police, the car was driving too fast.
