Man is charged with assaulting woman
Antwuan D. Allen, 18, of Hanley Hills, was charged Thursday with attacking a woman and pouring bleach down her throat last week in Berkeley.
Police said Allen and several friends left their children with the victim to baby-sit after midnight June 7.
As the group left the apartment in the 8600 block of Frost Avenue, the children began crying. Allen went back
inside and accused the woman, 19, of injuring the children, police said.
When she denied it, Allen beat her with a shower curtain rod. He bound her hands with a telephone cord and poured bleach into
her throat to stop her screaming, according to Berkeley police
. She escaped when Allen tried to put her in her car.
Allen, of the 2000 block of Bainbridge Drive, was charged with first-degree assault, felonious restraint, armed criminal action and second-degree robbery.
The victim's condition was not available.
