BEAUMONT — The Jefferson County grand jury has indicted three suspects for a strong-arm robbery of a 78-year-old woman at CVS on Dowlen Road.

Beaumont Police responded to CVS, 2950 Dowlen Road, at about 1:45 p.m. July 6 for a robbery in-progress call. Officers arrived and quickly obtained suspect and vehicle information from several witnesses.

Police say they learned a man committed a strong-arm robbery of a 78-year-old woman, pushing a shopping cart into her inside the CVS, taking her purse and running away, then getting into a newer model black Chrysler 200. The woman chased the man and fell outside of the pharmacy, causing injuries to her.

Officers on scene broadcast suspect and vehicle description, including a partial license plate. BPD Officers located the vehicle occupied by three suspects on Highway 90 just west of Major Drive and took them into custody.

Police say they found evidence linking them to the crime and officers transported all three suspects to the police station, where detectives interviewed them, then transported the three to the Jefferson County Jail.

Investigators say James Collins, 26, pushed the shopping cart into the woman, Lanique Malone, 18, stood outside of the store and acted as a 'look out' while Jasmine Stevens, 23, was the driver.

Each suspect is charged with Aggravated Robbery. Due to the victim’s age and injuries, the Robbery charge is enhanced to Aggravated. If convicted, each could face up to life in prison for the First Degree Felony.
