Two from Ottawa arrested in terror bust
OTTAWA - Two people have been arrested for terrorism related charges in a joint police investigation involving the RCMP and Ottawa police.
The RCMP have called a press conference for Thursday.
The raid at 91 Esterlawn Private began at about 7 a.m.
At about 8 a.m., A Division's Integrated National Security Enforcement Team investigators arrested two Ottawa residents in relation to terrorist offences. Search warrants are being executed in order to secure additional evidence. More arrests are anticipated.
Neighbours said a man and a woman lived at the house for about a year. The woman wore a burkaand never spoke to anyone.
"I've never even seen her outside," said a neighbour who asked not to be named due to the nature of the charges. "I've never talked to them other than the man, if we happened to be coming, we'd say hello."
The man would acknowledge them but that was it.
Neighbours didn't believe they had any children.
The police arrived at about 7 a.m. - or least were noticed by one neighbour who went outside to grab the newspaper.
"There were police everywhere," she said.
