A 24-year-old straphanger was slashed by a maniac in an unprovoked attack inside a Manhattan subway station early Monday morning, cops and sources said.
The victim was buying a MetroCard on the mezzanine level of the 47-50 Street-Rockefeller Center station in Midtown around 12:20 a.m. when an unidentified man crept up behind him and slashed him on the right side of his face with a cutting instrument, authorities said.
The suspect then fled the station on foot. Law enforcement sources said it was an unprovoked attack.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, but suffered a “severe laceration” to his face, police said.
