Teen Accused Of Brutally Beating Foster Father
71-Year-Old Caregiver Severely Injured
SANDY, Ore. -- A 17-year-old is under arrest in the brutal attack of his foster father.
Sheriff's deputies say Jonathan Harris (pictured) nearly beat 71-year-old Leonard Gardner to death with a blunt object Thursday morning.
"It's one of those ones where even as a police officer we look at it and go, 'Wow.' It was pretty bad. Pretty brutal," Marion County Deputy Kevin Rau told KOIN News 6.
Harris was caught just before midn
ght Thursday in Sandy, hiding under a blanket in the back seat of a stolen vehicle.
Gardner suffered multiple broken bones and internal and head injuries. He is recovering at Salem Hospital.
