A 31-year-old Manchester man is due to appear in court charged with rape.

Mohamed-Babu Mohideen Maraiker of Kipling Street, Higher Broughton, has been charged with two offences of rape and one of assault by penetration.

He is due to appear before Manchester City Magistrates’ Court on 5 November 2009.

Shortly after 1am on Sunday 9 August 2009, a 26-year-old woman called police in Manchester city centre and reported she had been raped on a car park near Canal Street.
