Authorities hunting killer nigger bear
Search continues in Mountains of Tennessee for Bear that Killed Child
BENTON, Tenn -Wildlife agents have set traps and are deploying more of them, as they search for a black bear that killed a six-year-old girl and badly injured her mother and younger brother.
The attack came yesterday afternoon in the Cherokee National Forest in southeastern Tennessee.
The family, whose names are not yet released, were at a pool below Benton Falls on Chilhowee Mountain when the bear attacked Thursday afternoon.
Dan Hicks of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency says rangers have set large traps made of highway culverts near the pool and at the bottom of a draw below the pool. The traps are baited with honey buns and doughnuts. Hick

Searchers used dogs Thursday ni
ght, but the bear hasn't been spotted.
Witnesses told officials the girl ran from the scene and the bear picked up her two-year-old brother in its mouth. The mother was also mauled as she and other people pelted the animal with rocks and sticks to scare it away.
Rescuers later found a bear believed to be the attacker standing over the girl's body off a trail about a hundred yards from the pool, which is near a campground.
The mother and son were flown to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga with critical injuries.
