Man arrested after motel standoff charged with attempted murder of three police officers

March 19, 2020 A Montgomery Alabama man is charged with attempted murder after he and several officers got into a standoff at a motel Wednesday.
Benjamin Baldwin, 39, was charged with three counts of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle or building, according to Montgomery police.
Lt. Jarrett Williams said officers responded to the 3600 block of Richard Road in reference to the man about noon. He was armed, Williams said.
The man, identified as Baldwin, fired a gun at officers multiple times as they responded to the InTown Suites Extended Stay motel.
The scene was secured and after an extended standoff, Baldwin was taken into custody without incident, according to MPD.
There were no injuries to any onlookers, the suspect, or officers. Baldwin was booked into the Montgomery County Detention Facility and placed under no bond.
