James Martin

A teen remained in jail Tuesday after police charged him with fatally shooting an 18-year-old man at a Glassport bus stop two days earlier.
James Martin, 17, of McKeesport fled the shooting scene on a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus but was arrested after the driver told a dispatcher the suspect was on board, police said.
Martin is charged as an adult with homicide and two firearms counts in the death of James Macke Jr., of Glassport.
The driver of a Route 55 Glassport bus was in the 500 block of Monongahela Avenue about 2:45 p.m. when she heard several gunshots, according to a criminal complaint.
People outside scattered, she told police.
When she stopped the bus, she saw a teen laying on the ground, motionless and bleeding from his head, the complaint said.
A male and female boarded, the driver told police. The male, later identified as Martin, had his face covered with a mask, according to police.
The driver asked the female passenger if the person outside was dead.
“I didn’t see anything,” she answered, according to the complaint.
The driver continued on her route but reported the shooting to her dispatchers, the complaint said. They gave her a description of the shooter.

He’s on the bus, she replied.
Police stopped the bus 1 1/2 miles away in Clairton and arrested Martin on board. He was taken to the Allegheny County Jail. A judge on Monday denied bail.
A witness told police she saw a man wearing a face covering, who later was identified as Martin, walk up to the Monongahela Avenue bus stop Sunday afternoon.
A red Jeep stopped nearby and three men climbed out, the complaint said. One of them yelled at Martin as they approached him.
“You don’t look happy to see them,” the witness said to Martin, according to the complaint.
“I’m not,” she said he replied.
Two of the men started fighting and “jumping” Martin, the witness told police.
There was a gunshot. Two men fled. The third fell to the ground.
Martin then stood above the victim and fired twice, the witness told police.
The bus pulled up and Martin boarded, the complaint said.
Macke was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:53 p.m., the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office said.
