Rape suspect denies forcing women

CAMBRIDGE -- The lawyer for a Natick man accused of kidnapping a teen and a woman, raping them and then using one of them as a lookout while he sold drugs in Boston said yesterday his client had consensual sex with them.

Anthony Martin, 48, who lived at the Monticello Motel when he was arrested in January, was arraigned yesterday in Middlesex Superior Court and held on $30,000 bail. Martin will next appear on July 14 for a pre-trial hearing.

Martin's lawyer, Michael Brennan, told Judge Regina Quinlan yesterday both women had been with Martin at different times,

had done drugs with him and then consented to sex.

One of the alleged victims, who is 16, was rep
ortedly raped in January 2005 at the hotel, while a second victim in her early 40s allegedly suffered the same fate in the same room in November 2004, according to authorities.

"There is a lot more in the story than what you are hearing today," Brennan told Quinlan. "My client denies there was forced sexual contact with either woman."

Prosecutor Mark Walter, however, said both women claim that Martin tortured them with pieces of wire and raped them.

Martin is charged with eight counts of aggravated rape, two counts each of kidnapping and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of assault and battery.

Martin is accused of luring the 16-year-old in Chinatown into his vehicle on Jan. 16 and bringing her to the Monticello Motel on Rte. 9. There, authorities said, he repeatedly raped the teen, and threatened her w
ith
a knife and a razor.
