Central Florida authorities are investigating a road-rage incident that killed an Altamonte Springs man, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting took place just after 2 a.m. Sunday in Davenport, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Polk Sheriff Grady Judd said during a Monday press conference that authorities received a call about a man lying in the middle of the offramp between U.S. 27 and Interstate 4. Kevin Berry, 58, was heading to work when an unknown person shot him.
Berry was taken to the hospital in grave condition but the Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday he was removed from life support around 6:25 p.m. and died.
A witness told officials they saw Berry’s white Dodge truck and a dark-colored two-door car driving aggressively toward each other and the occupants yelling.
Detectives ask anyone who saw or heard something between 2-2:15 a.m. to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 863-298-6200, case number 23-42221.
