JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County grand jury has indicted a teenager on a murder charge for the shooting death of Ricky Yates Jr.
Terrance Moore, 17, remains in jail after he surrendered at the Beaumont Police Department on Friday, January 19.
Leroy Harris, 42, is also in jail after police arrested him January 17 on a murder charge. Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr. set their bonds at $1 million.
Yates, 30, was shot multiple times and killed in his home on December 3 in the 3900 block of Bayou Road.
Yates' mother, Pamela Harris-Fisher, spoke with KFDM anchor/reporter Mello Styles following the arrest of Harris.
"It gives us a little peace and some justice," texted Pamela Yates. "We will be happier once everyone involved is in custody.
"Leroy Harris is a known criminal," said Officer Haley Morrow. "He has a very long, extensive rap sheet. He is suspect in a homicide in Houston, He is a suspect in some other violent felonies."
