Cops looking into two sexual assaults


Police are investigating two sex crimes that took place within the last week. So far, no one has been arrested.

A 15-year-old girl, selling candy and cookies from a box for a fundraiser, was assaulted Sunday about 4 p.m., police said. She was standing in front of the Modell's store at the Roosevelt Mall, on Cottman Avenue, when she was approached by a man who expressed interest in making a purchase, police said.

The unidentified man told the teen to accompany him to his car so he could pay for the treats, police said. He then pulled her into his vehicle and sexually assaulted her, police said.

. He was driving a burgundy four-door car.

In Center City, a woman was raped in her apartment on Thursday, police said. A man came to the door of the apartment on Pine Street near 15th, about 10:30 a.m. He got inside, robbed the woman of $20 and raped her before fleeing, police said.

The rapist is described as a black man about 40 years old, 6-feet, 200 pounds. He wore a black hat and dark clothing.

Sketch Released of Suspected Rapist

January 18, 2005 --Philadelphia police have released a sketch of a man who raped a woman in Center City last Thursday.

Detectives say the woman was in her Pine Street apartment near 15th Street that morning when the attacker came to her door.

He managed to get in, and assaulted her before fleeing with 20 dollars.

The rapist is described as a black man about 40 year-old, 6-feet tall, weighing about 200 pounds. He wore a black hat and dark clothing.

PHILADELPHIA-February 8, 2005 --Philadelphia police are looking for a suspect in four recent attacks on women in Center City ' and the good samaritan who foiled one of those attacks.

Police released a new sketch of the suspect Monday. He's described as a black man, about 35-to-40 years old and about 180 pounds.

He's wanted for three incidents in which he entered apartments by posing as a maintenance or repairman. In one case he sexually assaulted a woman.

In the latest incident on January 20th, he jumped a woman walking down Spruce Street and tried to force her into a light blue minivan. That's wh

en a passerby intervened.

Police want to talk to the good samaritan to see if he can give them any mor
e information about the suspect.
