A man and his dog were shot during a scuffle with a reputed drug dealer, Akron police said.
Gary Tallen, 50, told police that he and his drug dealer were having an argument Monday at about 11 p.m. at the corner of Bluff and North Summit streets when the drug dealer pulled a gun, police said.
Tallen ordered his dog to attack, but the drug dealer shot the dog. Police say Tallen and the suspect were struggling over the gun when Tallen was shot once in his side.
Tallen was treated at Akron City Hospital for a minor injury. The dog survived, but the seriousness of its injuries is unknown.
Police are looking for the suspect, a black male in his 40s who drove a Cadillac.
