A probation violation led to the arrest of three people and the discovery of 26 dogs in horrible condition in Lake County Tuesday. Deputies said they went to arrest Nathaniel Warren at his home in Yalaha for a probation violation.

Warren ran off when he saw police.

As the deputies searched for him, they found evidence of a dogfighting operation, which led them to Nathaniel's brother, Bruce.

Animal control said they found 17 pit bulls behind the house, attached to heavy chains.

Some of those chains reportedly had weights attached to them.

Animal control also said the dogs did not have adequate food and water.

Investigators also found syringes, vials and dogfighting literature, as well as several firearms.

Deputies eventually found and captured Nathaniel Warren.

The search also led police to a nearby home, where they found nine more dogs. A third suspect was arrested.

Earlier in the week, police in Brevard County also found dogs they believed were used in fighting.
