DENVER -- An elderly man who fell on a curb thought he was getting help from a passer-by, but Colorado Springs police said, the good Samaritan was actually a robber.

The 62-year-old man was trying to cross the street at South Chelton Road and Fountain Boulevard Sunday morning when he fell, reported KRDO.

The man hit his head on the pavement and a man in his 20s ran across the street asking if the victim needed help.

Colorado Springs police said as the man was pretending to help, he took money and a wallet from the victim's pockets[/

The man then ran away and was seen in a blue Jeep headed north on Sherton Road, police said.

The elderly man was treated at the scene for scrapes and bruises.

The robber is described as a black man who was wearing black pants, a white T-shirt and a white hat. Anyone who may have seen the robber is asked to call Colorado Springs police at 719-444-7000.
