Can't find pics or names yet, but enough is known to call this "migrant crime". Would not be surprised if many illegals are involved. It looks like one migrant group was fond of targeting certain other migrant groups.

NEW YORK -- A burglary ring that stole more than $1.5 million from hundreds of homes has been broken up through the arrests of more than 60 people, police said.

Sixth-three people have been arrested in connection to the ring, most of them since January, police said Sunday.

Authorities said members of the
ing would break into as many as six homes a day in quiet, residential neighborhoods in Queens, targeting mostly Chinese and Indian immigrants. An estimated 300 homes were hit by the ring, police said.

here they worked, with burglary statistics rising as much as 65 percent in one precinct.

Most of the burglars had ties to the Colombian city of Cali. Many were related, connected through romantic relationships or lived on the same street in Queens, police said.

"They were extremely active," chief police department spokesman Paul Browne said Sunday. "It's certainly one of the largest in memory, and maybe one of the biggest ever."

The story was first reported by the Daily News in Sunday's editions.

Police said the burglars looked for East or South Asian-style artwork on the windows and porches of homes as they searched for burglary targets.

"They believed that Asi
ans and Indians had a habit of not using banks," Browne said.
Many of the suspects are illegal immigrants and few had day jobs.

"They were pretty busy," Browne said.

The burglars worked in teams of three, with two entering a home and one, sometimes a wom
an, acting as a driver or lookout, Browne said.

Investigators are examining patterns of burglaries on Long Island and in Boston, New Jersey and Connecticut to determine if there are links to the suspects in Queens.

The suspects face burglary and attempted burglary charges. The sole act of violence tied to the ring is the rape of a woman who was home when they broke in.
