Federal Judge Blocks Unconstitutional California Law Banning Firearms From Most Public Places

A federal judge has blocked a California law that would have banned the possession of firearms in most public places, in a grotesque and blatant infringement of the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution.
The law, signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom and set to come into effect on Jan. 1, would have banned people from carrying concealed weapons in 26 different areas, including playgrounds, churches, banks, public parks, and zoos. This would have applied to people even if they possessed concealed weapons permits.
U.S. District Judge Cormac Carney blocked the law with a preliminary injunction, claiming that the law was “sweeping, repugnant to the Second Amendment, and openly defiant of the Supreme Court.”
The California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA), the organization that sued to block the enforcement of this measure, considers the injunction to be a huge victory for gun freedom.
“California progressive politicians refuse to accept the Supreme Court’s mandate from the Bruen case and are trying every creative ploy they can imagine to get around it,” CRPA president Chuck Michel said in a statement. “The Court saw through the State’s gambit.”
California Attorney General Rob Bonta stated that his office will file an appeal against the decision, which he claims “would endanger communities by allowing guns in places where families and children gather.” His boss Newsom is also undaunted in his quest to destroy the 2nd Amendment in his state.
“Defying common sense, this ruling outrageously calls California’s data-backed gun safety efforts ‘repugnant.’ What is repugnant is this ruling, which greenlights the proliferation of guns in our hospitals, libraries, and children’s playgrounds — spaces, which should be safe for all,” the governor said in a statement released on Wednesday.
Previously, a federal judge struck down California’s ban on so-called assault weapons. This sent Newsom into a rage where he made disingenuous personal attacks against the judge who made the ruling.
Newsom declared in a X/Twitter post that US District Court Judge Roger T. Benitez is an “NRA puppet.” Newsom added by noting that “Today … Judge Roger Benitez … tried to strip away CA’s three-decade-old assault weapon ban — comparing an assault rifle to a knife.”
Benitez noted accurately in his ruling that “killing by knife attack is far more common than homicide by any kind of rifle.”
Newsom and other Democrat tyrants will stop at nothing to destroy the 2nd Amendment. The courts are holding them back, but it will ultimately come down to Americans’ will to resist as the only thing that will keep these tyrants in check.
