New Arrest, Old Case

The Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested a third suspect in connection with the January 2004 murder of Steven Bass.

Twenty-five year old Bass was killed when he walked in on an armed robbery on San Juan Avenue in Macon.

Melanie Hofmann with Macon Police says the Task Force arrested 21-year old Lamario Rodgrigues Barge in Dekalb county around 5:30 Thursday evening. Barge is charged with murder and four counts of armed robbery.

Last January, Macon police arrested 25-year old Lataj Tyrone Ross who was also shot during the incident.

Two months later, United States Marshals arrested a second suspect. Damien Henderson was taken into custody at a hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Henderson was also charged with murder
r
and armed robbery.

A Bibb County grand jury indict
ed both men last July.

Hofmann says Macon Police can not bring Lamario Barge back to Macon because he has previous charges pending against him in Atlanta. Hofmann says there is no word on when Barge will be returned to Macon authorities.

Macon police are still looking to identify a fourth person involved in the murder and armed robbery on San Juan Avenue last January.

Anyone with information on this case should contact Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME. Callers can remain completely anonymous and earn up to $1,000 in reward money.
