1 killed, 3 injured outside nightclub
YAZOO CITY --A Yazoo City woman was killed and at least three others were injured after an early Sunday morning altercation outside a nightclub, officials said.
Aleshia Turner, 21, of 216 Magnolia St. was shot in the face after shots were fired about 1:15 a.m. in the parking lot of Chocolate City on South Industrial Parkway, said Yazoo County Coroner Rickey Shivers.
"Miss Turner was not the intended target," said Yazoo City Police Chief Mike Wallace. "She was not involved in the altercation. She was an innocent bystander."
Another man was shot in the leg and two others stabbed during the altercation, Wallace said. The situation apparently started
when a group of people was asked to leave the club, Wallace said. Two men ha
ve been charged with murder, Wallace said.
Allen Smith, 22, of Vicksburg and Jermaine Williams, 22, of Vicksburg are being held at the Yazoo County Detention Center, Wallace said. Smith is being held on $100,000 bond, while Williams, arrested Monday, has not made a court appearance.
"All of these young lives wasted over something that wasn't worth it," Wallace said. "It is a tragedy."
Turner was pronounced dead at 1:43 a.m. Sunday at King's Daughter Hospital, Shivers said. She was the mother of three children, ages 4, 2, and a baby boy she gave birth to Dec. 8, said her aunt, Selina Johnson of Pittsburgh, Pa.
"This was so senseless," Johnson said. "She was trying to get into the truck to leave when she was shot."
