Verdict in for Bomb Threat Trial

The verdict is in for the trial of a Macon man accused of making bomb threats.

Eddie Milton Garey is guilty on all 27 counts. Next, he'll face sentencing.

It was last September when much of the Macon area was living on edge as Garey called in bomb threats throughout Bibb and Monroe Counties.

Local, state and federal officials worked to arrest and charge him with 27 counts including making bomb threats, threatening to use weapons of mass destruction and extortion.

Friday, a federal jury found Garey guilty on all 27 counts. That&#

39;s according to U.S. Attorney Max Wood.

It's a day Bibb County Sheriff Jerry Modena has been anticipating.

JERRY
MODENA, BIBB CO. SHERIFF:
"There's a relief. We did our job. We did our job, and now the courts, the jury has done their job."

Modena says the 10 days of threats last September were some of the scariest times of his career.

He says the toll on his deputies and the costs of pursuing Garey were "significant."

U.S. Attorney Max Wood says Garey faces life in prison. Sentencing will begin within the next 60 to 90 days.
