KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A registered sex offender who was posing as a coach is accused of sodomizing a teenager, KMBC's Jim Flink reported Thursday.

The mother of an alleged victim wants to make sure the offender is locked up for a long time.

Eric J. Robertson, 41, of Kansas City, has been a registered sex offender since 1994.

KMBC reported that Robertson allegedly kept his record a secret while posing as a coac
h and mentor for a local youth center.

"He was just this typical nice guy -- talking about God to me and everything," sa
id the mother of an alleged victim, who asked to remain unidentified.

"I feel betrayed by him," said Mike Bobbitt, with Milestone Youth Center in Kansas City.

The mother said Robertson convinced parents to send their sons to his house for sleepovers.

"And it was a lot of little boys who were going to spend the night, and I said, 'Sure, OK,'" the mother said.

"And he gave me alcohol, put on pornos, and he ... (shakes head)," the teenage victim said, unable to continue.

Robertson was charged with two counts of statutory sodomy, supplying liquor to a minor and furnishing pornography to a minor.

"Some of our prosecutors believe these individuals can't be healed, that they just can't be around children again," said John Liebnitz, with the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office.

"My son's been to therapy -- he goes to therapy every Tuesday," said the mother.

"Why would he do something like that to me? I thought he was a nice person," the alleged victim sa
id.

The mother is asking for any other parents who suspect Robertson of wrongdoing to step forward.

Robertson will appear in court next week. If convicted, he could face a maximum of seven years in jail.
