Woman, 91, Raped and Beaten in Home
Vicksburg police are gathering information in hopes it will lead to the arrest of a man who beat, robbed, and raped a 91 year-old woman at knifepoint on Monday.
The attack occurred at the woman's house in a neighborhood near Halls Ferry Road.
The victim told police that a young black man knocked on her door Monday evening. When she answered the door, he forced her back inside.
The man forced her into the bedroom, cut her arm, beat and raped her before stealing her jewelry.
Police say they believe the man is responsible for an earlier attack in the same neighborhood.
Police are hoping a composite sketch from a similar attack in May will help identify the attacker.
In May, a woman answered her door and was forced into her back yard by a young black man. A neighbor's dog scared him away. The woman reported the incident to police.
Captain Mark Culbertson of the Vicksburg Police Department says the victims described their attacker, saying, "He is described as a young black male, maybe teens to maybe 20s,...medium complexion, fairly clean shaven, low-cut hair, 5 feet 7 inches [tall],...maybe 150 pounds or so."
Police say the man responsible for these attacks could face charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, kidnapping and rape.
