Deputy Shot After Zapping Drug Suspect With Taser

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A manhunt continued Tuesday in Orange County, Fla., after a sheriff's deputy was shot trying to break up a suspected drug deal, Local 6 News reported.
Deputy Robert White was driving by a gas station at 6:30 p.m. Monday and noticed suspicious activity between a man in a vehicle and man on a bicycle, said Jim Solomons, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
White called for backup and approached the scene, Solomons said.
When the second deputy, Adam Pierce, 25, arrived, the man on the bicycle took off, leading Pierce on a foot chase. The man ran back to the gas statio
n and White zapped him with a stun gun, but it did not work, Solomons said.
The man got up and shot Pierc
e twice, according to reports.
Police release a composite photo of the shooting suspect.
"I heard eight or nine shots," witness Jynyiah Tims said. "Then, I saw a figure run across."
White then shot the suspect, who fled on foot and got away, Solomons said.
"We believe he was hit," said Lt. Al Rollins, a sheriff's spokesman.
Deputies closed several streets Monday night but were not able to find the man.
Pierce was in stable condition at a local hospital Monday night, Rollins said.
The suspect in the vehicle also got away, Solomons said.
"Quite frankly, I'm sick and tired of some of the violence and now, tonight, it is against one of my deputies," Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary said. "We will not be leaving the area until we come up with a name or suspe

Deputies stormed a home Monday night but did not make an arrest in the case.
Investigators released a composite sketch of the gunman early Tuesday. A $6,000 reward is being offered for
information leading to the man's capture.
