PARK RIDGE, Ill. - The FBI is asking for help to identify a cross-dressing bandit who robbed a northwest suburban bank branch last month.
The man wore a black and pink dress, pink woman's wide-brimmed sun hat, long white cloth gloves and white sandals when he robbed the MB Financial Bank branch at 1014 Busse Hwy. in Park Ridge, according to a release from the Chicago FBI. The robbery occurred about 6:50 p.m. on Aug. 13.
Witnesses said the cross-dressing bandit entered the bank carrying an oversized black purse and handgun and loudly announced the robbery, demanding cash from the vault.
The robber in a dress forced an employee to place a wad of cash into a plastic shopping bag, the release said.
After getting the money, the robber herded two bank employees and one customer into a bathroom and used plastic zip-ties to bind their hands behind their backs. Witnesses told authorities the robber had a calm and methodical demeanor throughout the robbery.
The suspect, regarded as armed and dangerous, is described as a black man, believed to be about 25, 5-foot-10 and 150 pounds.
