FAIRFIELD COUNTY, SC (WIS)- Fairfield County investigators charged four people in connection to a Saturday night gas station robbery, and killing the victim's dog.

Sheriff's office Deputy Chief, Keith Lewis, said five suspects are in jail Tuesday morning. Lewis said two of the suspects are women.

Investigators said 33 year old Kimberly Belton drove 42 year old Theia Gaines, 29 year old Shamel Williams, 22 year old Colya Sanders, and 24 year old Romero Coleman drove the Mitford Business Center on Highway 200 around 9 p.m. Saturday. The business is known as T&T Fireworks.

Lewis said Gaines went into the store, then hid out in a bathroom. Once inside, Lewis said the woman sent a text to the group outside, saying the store was clear. That's when investigators said the three male suspects went into the store wearing ski masks, and armed with handguns.

Store clerk, Tina Roberts and her 18 year old daughter were inside the store when the robbery happened. Roberts said the men jumped over the counter and pistol-whipped her in the back of the head. Investigators said the men grabbed Robert's daughter around the neck, then stuffed the victims into a side room.

During the robbery, Roberts said one of the men stomped her one and a half pound Chihuahua, Kobi, to death before leaving the store with nearly $1,000 cash.

Investigators tracked Gaines down Sunday, then arrested co-defendant, Kimberly Belton down Monday. Investigators said the women identified the three male suspects. All five are in jail awaiting bond hearings. The group faces charges of: armed robbery, commission of a crime while armed with a deadly weapon, animal cruelty, kidnapping, grand larceny, and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

Tonight on News 10 at 6, hear from the victim of the robbery.

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, SC (WIS) – Three men charged in connection to a Fairfield County store robbery and with stomping a dog to death Saturday night were back in court Wednesday.

A county magistrate mistakenly set bond on the suspects Tuesday on charges that state law requires a circuit court judge to set. On Wednesday, Judge Will Pope overturned the bonds set Tuesday and ordered the men held until the next term of circuit court.

A county magistrate set bond for Romero Coleman, the man investigators said stomped the dog to death, at $100,000. The judge set Colya Sanders and Shamel Williams' bonds, collectively, at $180,000. Bond for two other suspects, Kimberly Belton and Theia Gaines, will be set within the next couple of days.

The group faces charges of armed robbery, commission of a crime while armed with a deadly weapon, animal cruelty, kidnapping, grand larceny, and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. If convicted, the group could face up to life in prison, which moves the case into circuit court.

Investigators said 33-year-old Kimberly Belton drove 42-year-old Theia Gaines, 29-year-old Shamel Williams, 22-year-old Colya Sanders, and 24-year-old Romero Coleman drove to the Mitford Business Center on Highway 200 around 9 p.m. Saturday. The business is known as T&T Fireworks.

Store clerk Tina Roberts and her 18-year-old daughter were inside the store when the robbery happened. Roberts said the men jumped over the counter and pistol-whipped her in the back of the head.

"I thought if I just do what they want, everything will be fine and we'll be safe, but they just continued to hit me in the back of the head with a gun and had my daughter by her neck," Roberts said.

Investigators said the men grabbed Robert's daughter around the neck and stuffed them into a side room.

During the robbery, Roberts said one of the men stomped her one and a half pound Chihuahua, Kobi, to death.

"He jumped on the floor and started barking at the guys to try to get them away from us," said Roberts. "He never went to bite them or anything, but they just killed him then."
