HENRY COUNTY, Ga. -- The owner of a Henry County dog boarding and breeding business, who now faces charges after officials said they found dogs living in deplorable conditions, has ties to NFL quarterback Michael Vick, Channel 2 Action News has learned.

Art Washington is the owner of Premier K-9. Investigators served a search warrant at the Ellenwood business several days ago.

While looking into Washington’s background, Channel 2’s Craig Lucie discovered that the secretary of state revoked his business license less than two weeks ago for failing to pay an annual registration fee.

When Henry County animal control officers raided the facility, they said the floors at Premier K-9 were covered in feces. Officials said they also found a dead dog in a garbage bag covered in flies.

Lucie learned that Washington owned a car rental business with Vick, who was released from federal prison on dogfighting charges two years ago. Vick recently signed a $100 million contract with the Eagles. Premier K-9 touts professional wrestlers, basketball, baseball and football players as satisfied customers on its website.

An Indiana bank sued both Washington and Vick for $2 million after they said the pair refused to pay the bank back after getting a loan to buy 130 cars.

Channel 2 contacted the bank’s attorneys to see if that lawsuit was ever settled, and is still awaiting a response.

Lucie also tried to get a comment from Washington, but was told he would be releasing a statement in the near future.

Officials said more charges may be filed against Washington.
