Newport police are using security camera images to identify the man a 13-year-old Ohio girl told them grabbed her Saturday in a women's restroom at Newport on the Levee.
The teen-ager from Centerville told investigators that she was in one of the Levee's public restroom stalls near Cold Stone Creamery on the exterior plaza of the complex when the attack happened.

The girl told police when she was coming out of the bathroom stall about 6:20 p.m. when a man "grabbed her by the arm and throat and attempted to push her back into the stall," according to a police report.

The girl and her father told investigators that th
incident happened very quickly and that she thought the man was going to assault or rob her.

"She resisted and was able to get away from subject," the report said.

"The victi

m s
ated she did not need medical attention at the scene, however
there were red marks on her neck where unknown subject grabbed her."

The girl told police that the assailant had "dark-colored skin, similar to that of a Hispanic."

She reported that he had dark, short hair and wore a blue shirt, white pants and blue/gray shoes.

Newport police say a man matching that description was recorded leaving the complex at the same time on Levee security cameras. That individual was walking toward Third Street.

Newport police obtained images of the suspect Tuesday afternoon which they hope someone might be able to identify. Anyone with information should call (859) 292-3622.
