Shortly after claiming that New Zealand was run by a cabal of lesbians and homosexuals - and raising questions of the Prime Minister's own sexual orientation Maori Labour MP John Tamihere when asked how a society - and here I suspect the interviewer meant Maori society - can be focused on the injustices of the past he responded:

"The Weisenthal Institute is the same. I'm sick and tired of hearing how many J*ws got gassed, not because I'm not revolted by it - I am - or I'm not violated by it - I am - but because I already know that.

"How many times do I have to be told and made to feel guilty?"

Tamihere is a Maori who plays a careful fence-sitting game - never t

oo pro-Maori - as a result of this game he finds himself popular with both Maori and w
hite voters. He's been involved in a number of quasi-legal business dealings - so from an ethnic standpoint he's pretty much par for the course. He's been touted as a potential leader of the country and I'm not really sure what this latest revelation will mean for him. He's managed to survive other scandals that would have plunged most politicians down the toilet.

I fail to see how this is a scandal, despite the media trying to make it one.
