Pot found in phony Qwest van; one arrest

Border Patrol agents discovered a stash of marijuana inside a van disguised to look like a Qwest service vehicle on Friday near Sonoita, officials said.
A Border Patrol agent attempted to stop a 1996 Dodge van at about 1:15 p.m. Friday on Arizona 83 because the Qwest business logo on the outside of the white van looked suspicious, according to a news release.
The driver, an illegal entrant from Mexico, failed to stop and turned onto Empire Cienega 900 Road.
A short
time later, agents found the van abandoned with the front door open about a quarter-mile east of Empire Cienega 900 Road, on Empire Cienega 904 Road, said the Border Patrol press release.

n, agents found 520 pounds of marijuana, with a street value o
f about $417,000.
The driver was later arrested a mile from the van and was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration, authorities said.
