Teen pleads guilty to manslaughter

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - A 16-year-old accused of shooting a teen in the back of the head last year pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in court Wednesday.

According to George Debusk, senior assistant solicitor, Eric Lynch went in front of the judge Wednesday afternoon and pleaded guilty to shooting Travell Simpson on July 31, 2008. Lynch's attorney says the entire shooting was an accident.

After shooting the victim, prosecutors say Lynch moved the body, tried cleaning up the blood, and then fled the scene.

Lynch was sen
tenced to five years on youthful offender status, and he will be under close supervision for the entire sentence.
