Kill a child, get a council flat
AN ILLEGAL immigrant drink-driver who killed a boy in a crash is living rent-free in a council flat.
Aaron Chisango, 29, was one and a half times the booze limit when he mowed down Jamie Mason, 12.
He served just two months in jail for drink driving and having no licence or insurance.
Prosecutors ruled that there was not enough evidence for causing death by dangerous driving.
After jail, Chisango was sent to a detention centre while battling a deportation order. But a judge ordered him to be released on bail.
Now, much to the fury of Jamie’s family, he lives on state handouts in a £43-a-week flat — complete with TV, video and DVD player.
When The Sun tracked him down to his second-floor home in Leeds he was still in bed at 1.30pm.
He stayed defiantly silent when asked if he wanted to say sorry to his victim’s family.
After batting off questions with repeated replies of “No, no”, he finally mumbled: “I apologise.”
Last night Jamie’s furious sister Tracy Mason said: “That man is without shame. It is disgusting that Chisango has been allowed to manipulate the system.”
Zambian Chisango, a nurse who has a child in Britain, ran over Jamie in Wolverhampton two years ago.
He arrived in Britain on a Zimbabwean passport and has been fighting deportation since 1999.
Britain is banned from deporting people to Zimbabwe. Chisango has even joined the Zimbabwean opposition party in a bid to stay.
