Intense Debate: What is it?

Intense Debate is a Cross Platform Social Networking Commenting System. It is widely regarded that systems such as this are the future of blog commenting.

Intense debate is owned by the same people that own Wordpress (the system this entire website is built with). There are several available (all of which I have tested) and this one is best suited to our needs, and by far the easiest to use.

First and foremost our standard commenting sys
tem was flat and static. It did nothing but collect and display opinions and messages until such time as they disappeared into the abyss.

This new Intense Debate systems offers the ability for users to distribute, share, subscribe and network their own comments and those of others too. Thus making a good comment available and seen by a far, far wider audience and network. It is also cross platform, so once a user is registered on Intense Debate, they can comment on any website that offers the Intense Debate facility. This, I hope, will be made available on all the websites in our network and many more besides.

Scenario 1:

Let’s assume Bob Jones comments on a regular basis on the BNP website and also comments on Land and people, BNPtv, Simon Darby’s Blog, The Daily News, Politics-R-us.com and various other blogs and websites.

All comments that Bob makes across all sites are accessible and available to all users of all sites. If Bob made a good comment on the Daily News website a
nd had a respectable profile, Sarah Smith may look at his profile and see that he is a regular commenter on the BNP site, thus encouraging Sarah to look at the BNP website too.

Sarah then leaves a comment, and when she is on another website, John sees that Sarah comments on the BNP website and also visits to join the “Intense Debate”. And so, and so on.

Scenario 2:

Let’s assume Bob Jones made a really great comment on the BNP website six weeks ago. As it stands now, that comment is dead and buried, unlikely to ever see the light of day again. Also, the article he commented on is dead and buried too.

Now, with this new system, when someone looks at Bob’s profile, that comment is only 5th on the list of Bob’s profile and available to be seen and read by anyone that looks at Bob’s profile. Hey presto!… Not only does Bob’s great comment get seen again - so does the article and our website!

Essentially, this system will drive traffic and people to our website, rei
gnite old debate and articles that were otherwise dead and buried!

Furthermore, each commenter can build a user profile that contains links and information relating to their facebook, myspace, twitter, flickr, digg-it, LastFM and FriendFeed accounts. All of which will distribute our articles and comments amongst each other and make them available to groups and networks previously unreachable by us. This is accessible by simply pointing your mouse over a user’s image and following the links listed in that user’s profile(see link for more information).

It is all about networking, so please make the effort to register for an account at http://www.intensedebate.com
