White supremacist group plans rally on Midland County Courthouse steps

MIDLAND — Randy G. Gray II says he’s done resting on his laurels, hoping the government will realize what its done and waiting for it to change.

Gray, 30, of Midland, will express his views on issues such as free speech, due process and the “illegal invasion” at a rally from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 31, on the steps of the Midland County Courthouse.

Gray made headlines in 2008 when he was elected a Republican precinct delegate but was barred from assuming the post after he appeared in Ku Klux Klan regalia, protesting the election of President Barack Obama, on the streets of Midland.

“We will continue to speak out because what they are doing is contrary to the foundation of our government,” said Gray.

Dr. James P. Wickstrom and Jeff Schoep, commander of the National Socialist Movement, are scheduled to join Gray at the podium.

Wickstrom, a Linwood resident and leader in the Christian Identity movement, is known for his belief that white Western European people are the only true children of God, according to his website.

The National Socialist Movement is a Detroit-based organization “fighting for white civil rights,” the group’s web page states.

The rally is sponsored by a group informally known as Citizens Against Out of Control Government, Gray said.

“People are angry at the government on a lot of different levels,” he said. “We hope to give them some answers.”

Gray said his goal is to motivate people to take responsibility for their own government and be aware of “what they (the government) are doing to you.”

“We have illegal aliens flooding into our country and all we hear is talk about racial profiling,” said Gray, a supporter of Jason “J.T.” Ready, an Arizona man who has organized an armed militia to patrol the state’s border with Mexico.

“When the government fails to do its job, it’s up to we the people to do it.”
